Cases of
dengue fever
, transmitted by mosquitoes,
have been reported in Puerto
Rico in recent years. Early
symptoms include sudden
fever and aching joints,
after which a rash sets in.
The disease itself, which
typically lasts several days,
isn't treatable, but
symptoms are. The best
medicine is prevention,
through the use of liberal
amounts of mosquito
repellent. Mosquitoes are
most rampant in July.
