The Mercedita Airport (tel 787/842-6292) is located about four miles east of Ponce on Highway 5506, off Highway 1. American Eagle makes daily trips from San Juan which take around half an hour. A taxi ride into the city centre costs about US$10.

Públicos leave from Calle Union, north of the Plaza de Las Delicias in the historic part of town. We've listed público lines. Ponce has several taxi companies; most reliable is Ponce Taxi (tel 787/642-3370). A free sightseeing trolley tour leaves from the cathedral and runs through the historic district to Castillo Serrallés.

The PRTC 's Ponce office (tel 787/284-4913) is in the Paseo del Sur plaza on Route 1. Information is also available at the Ponce Municipal Tourist Office (tel 787/843-0465) which has a small branch on the second floor of the Citibank Building on the Plaza de Las Delicias, as well as a conveniently located kiosk in the Parque de Bombas building across the street.
